CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY

Cranial Sacral Therapy taps into the motion call the cranial sacral rhythm that can be felt most strongly in your head (cranium) and the base of your spine (sacrum). The cranial sacral rhythm is created by a “wave” of fluid which continuously ebbs and flows in the space around the brain and spinal cord.

Tension anywhere in the body can restrict the flow of the cranial sacral fluid. Practitioners use a gentle touch to subtly correct that rhythm along with slightly adjusting the bones in the cranium and sacrum. In the process, tension can spontaneously release, allowing for positive change to occur throughout the body. Cranial sacral therapy works on a profound level to support healthful changes in all the body’s systems.

For a session, you lie fully-clothed on a massage table. No oil or traditional massage strokes are used. Your therapist begins by placing their hands beneath a section of your spine feeling for any tightness. They may also place their hands on your shoulders, neck, and face and may hold a position for some time according to your needs.
