The Chinese have known for thousands of years that the root of health and beauty comes from the inside. Cosmetic Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin, sterile needles into the acupuncture points on the face and body to stimulate collagen production, increase muscle tone and neutralize free radical production. The most common areas treated for preventing and improving aging are: face, neck, breast and abdomen.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

By inserting needles along designated acupuncture points on the body and face, acupuncture stimulates oxygen and blood flow to the area causing it to become flushed. This flushing of the skin along with the needles placed gently into the collagen fibers stimulates the fibers beneath the skin to plump up naturally filling the wrinkles in and making them less visible. Along with stimulating the collagen fibers, cosmetic acupuncture stimulates muscles, this stimulation encourages toning of the muscles allows the skin to firm nturally. As we age, collagen fibers flatten and loss of muscle tone occurs allowing wrinkles and frown lines to appear in those areas. Therefore it is key to restore the integrity of your collagen fibers and to re-enforce muscle tone to reduce wrinkles and frown lines.

Cosmetic acupuncture also helps restore the integrity of your skin cells by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals are destructive molecules. They attack and destroy the walls of your skin cells just below the surface of your skin. Over time the cells become deflated and dehydrated as free radicals begin to take the place of collagen fibers thus increasing wrinkles, sagging skin and poor muscle tone. When acupuncture is used, it naturally stimulates the nervous, hormonal and circulatory systems. When these systems are stimulated, circulation increases to neutralize free radicals and decrease the inflammation they cause. When inflammation is decreased and free radicals are neutralized, collagen fibers begin to regenerate to repair themselves, the wrinkles and skin damage. The result being: the wrinkles are reduced, muscle and skin tone are improved and the skin naturally regenerates itself.

In 1996, a report in the Journal of Clinical Acupuncture stated that among 300 patients treated with cosmetic acupuncture, 90% had marked effects after one course of treatment. COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE VS OTHER PROCEDURES

Cosmetic acupuncture can help you achieve some of the same results with less risk and cost. For example, the average cost of a surgical face lift is $10,000 with some side effects including: moderate to severe pain, bruising, swelling, multiple pain medication side effects, facial numbness, surgical scars, risk of infection, even death. In fact, in can take up to six months for some of these side effects to subside! And because surgery only lifts skin, it doesn’t address the root problem: toning the facial muscles underneath or stimulating our bodies natural collagen production to increase the plumpness and firmness of the skin. Because surgery doesn’t address these issues, the skin will eventually begin to sag again resulting in the face lift only lasting about 10 years.

Botox and restylane only last for months and only act as a filler for wrinkles, fine lines and crows feet. A filler doesn’t promote your body to increase its own muscle tone, reduce inflammation or increase collagen production as Cosmetic acupuncture addresses, so one would have to continually go back for injections with minimal results. Plus, the side effects of botox and restylane range from facial pain to headaches, infection, swelling and flu-like symptoms.

Cosmetic acupuncture is a safe a far less costly alternative to cosmetic surgery, botox or restylane. Cosmetic acupuncture begins to address the aging process where it begins: the skin, muscles, collagen and free radicals. Along with that, the Doctor will discuss changes in lifestyle and nutrition, because 70% of aging is due to lifestyle factors, not genetic factors as was once thought. When you address aging at the source, results will last longer because your body is in tune on how to take care of itself. We provide a therapy that is proven to be effective, has no pain or side effects and provides wonderful results!

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Typical results last between 3-5 years, even longer(depending on age, general health of individual and lifestyle). Patients who smoke, have chronic high stress, are obese and / or have poor eating habits/lifestyle will not have their results last as long unless they change/improve their lifestyle habits.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Patients who have severe chronic migraines,(3x or more per week) are diabetic, have contagious skin diseases or infected, cut or irritated skin cannot receive cosmetic acupuncture. If a patient has none of these conditions, then cosmetic acupuncture is completely safe with no side effects.

TREATMENTS:

Treatments are done weekly and the number of treatments depends on what area(s) are being addressed by the Doctor. Typically patients will begin their treatment sessions at 2 times per week, then reduce down to 1 time per week. Patients may come in more often per week to reduce the time length of treatments. Any missed sessions will reduce the effectiveness of the therapy so it is important that if a patient chooses this therapy, they understand the treatment protocol and have the time to complete it without missed sessions.

A complimentary consultation is required before treatments begin. After the consultation, if a patient decides to go ahead with the treatments they have two options. 1) A patient may pay upfront at the consultation and get scheduled in immediately when the next appointment is available or if they have a specific month they would like to come in, treatments can be scheduled for that time. OR 2) A patient can be put on our waiting list. A $150.00 non-refundable deposit is needed to be on our waiting list. Our waiting list for cosmetic acupuncture is typically between 4-8 weeks but may last longer if other patients come in and pick option #1 (taking the next available opening, by doing so, the waiting list is pushed back).

Treatment plan will NOT be based off of age, rather the degree of symptoms and patients concerns. To protect patient confidentiality, patient "before and after" pictures will only be shown to those who go through the consultation/treatment process. A patient has the right to deny "before and after" pictures being shown to potential patients and in our advertising.
